DO WE NEED SECRETS?

The way I see it, organizations considering overhauling or eliminating a job classification should be open about when and what is going to happen. Instead of repeatedly telling those sitting on the edge of their seats hoping to learn the future status of their positions that no decisions have been made, why not at least give them some idea of what has been discussed. For that matter, why not be honest about the fact that things are being discussed? Why not let people know who is involved in the discussion? Being secretive and failing to disclose any information at all is demoralizing to those people who fear they will be affected. Unfortunately, enough information, much of it erroneous, usually gets leaked here and there to overfeed the rumor mill and create a frenzied paranoia among all involved. Does anyone out there really believe that no news is good news?
