REALLY??? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORD MEANS?

A school recently put on a Fiesta program for the parents in San Antonio. All the adorable second graders were dressed up as Mexican dancers. Their opening dance was to the song "I've Got Spurs That Jingle Jangle Jingle" in honor of their school's mascot being the "cowboys". After that, they danced to, and sang along with, three traditional Mexican songs in Spanish. The next week, a parent wrote on a school survey that the program was too anglocentric for a school in San Antonio with it's large Hispanic population. I just wonder... Do they even know what the word anglocentric means? According to Meriam-Webster, it is defined as " centered on or giving priority to England or things English". How can a show in Mexican costumes with 3 out of 4 songs sung in Spanish be centered on or giving priority to England or English things? Don't you just love anonymous surveys?
